Question about Food safety in business

I'm asked to manage a coffee and bakeshop business of our family lately. I really do not know much about food operation and food safety. What safety practices do I have to implement? Are there food safety regulations that we need to comply with. I'm also gathering research about it and hoping a bit advice from others who's into same business.

Thanks for your reply. I have already read it and some blogs pertaining to food safety risk management as well. I think there is a lot of resources to be found online but its just a matter of knowing what will work for us.

How about software? Can you suggest what is the most workable and available in the UK?
