Can I have some input here on going back to work full time just before baby no. 4 is due? Anyone else done this or similar?

I have just found out I have got an interview for a p/t job (16 hours per week from home flexitime) - yipee!! I have also applied for a 18 hr a week job in the local nursery (3 hrs a day & 3 hrs at home). I would really like to do both jobs. Dh is applying for a f/t job working from home too.

I just want to be prepared (in my own mind) for how hard work this might be and how feasible it is to do this. I could certainly be working from home atm without any disruption to home life but obviously adding a new baby into the mix is another issue! Any thoughts appreciated.

(btw both jobs are fairly undemanding and I could do them in my sleep )

I started and out of the home job at 23 weeks pregnant. I work a 45 hour week with a 1.5 hour commute (both ways).

The worst thing for me is being away from my boys - I absolutely hate it. If I could work from home, then I'd be in 7th heaven. Totally doable.

Miaou, is this what you want? Or is it a necessity?

I have done very undemanding jobs, but tbh found it very stressful being out of the house and arranging all the stuff that needs to be arranged. All the things you do in the day need to be done in the evening when you are knackered.

That's just me, though. Other people manage to work ft quite happily.

How long would you get off after the baby? Probably 9 months with SMP?

Hmm, yes it is what I want I think - well, I want to work and I really want to be able to buy a home so that we don't have to rent any more. And yes I enjoy working and haven't really done any for the last two years and I miss it.

I couldn't do a f/t WOH job for certain - but one job would entail me being away from home 3 hours a day, (work is a two minute walk from home) the other one would mean me being at home all the time. Also, with the nursery job, in a year's time I would be taking ds with me so I wouldn't be without him at all!

Ceolas - not sure about maternity leave. Tbh I would be happy to take leave only until the baby could go three hours between breastfeeds (I won't ff and I can't rely on being able to express - couldn't manage it before!). Dh would look after the little ones whilst I was at work and my mum would be able to step in and help occasionally.

Oh whoopee - just got a letter asking me to attend an interview for the nursery job too

Went for the interview for the 16 hour flexitime job today but didn't get it - but at least that solves the dilemma of whether I will be able to cope with f/t work after the baby is born!
