Any social workers out there?

Or anyone working in the area of social care?

I am currently in the throws of a complete career change and was hoping that someone out there would be able to help me.

I want to work with hate crime victims (domestic violence, racial harrasment, etc) and was wondering if there was anyone who knew which qualifications to go for or whether a general social work diploma would cover all areas.

I have already looked on the Net without much success, but I do have potential volunteer work set up with Victim Support.

Thanks for any advice given.

Monnie, It depends on the level you want to enter at. I think lots of jobs, particularly in the voluntary sector, emhasise "relevant experience" over qualification. A Social Work qualification may not be required. It might be worth you looking in the Guardian (Wednesday) to get an idea of what potential employers are looking for.
