Do you have to hand your notice in first thing in the morning for that day to count as the first day of your notice?

Hoping to hand in my notice on Monday. References were sent today and I have returned all the new starter forms but haven't received confirmation that my job offer is now a firm offer rather than conditional.

If I were to receive confirmation at lunchtime on Monday, then hand in my notice, does that mean my last day can be 21/4 (4 weeks notice), or would I have to work Monday 24th too?

You can hand it in at 5pm and it still counts!

Just write I wish to give 4 weeks notice - my final day being X

That's fab! I would really rather start new job on the Monday Smile

Legally handing in your notice on Monday would mean the countdown starts on the Tuesday, but people rarely draw everything out once someone wants to go.
