My Nanny is having a baby

My nanny has worked for us for over three years and is due to take 14 weeks maternity leave in June. Can anyone advise me
a) what her statutory pay rights are
b) what a 'nice' employer would normally honour above this

Also, when she returns she will have her baby. Should her fee be reduced?

As to what you could over and above that, I am not sure, my employer (big multinational) only gave the bare minmum. A colleagues wife got above that even though she works for a charity (paid more for longer).

When we had our last nanny we had a fund which we paid into each month which was earmarked for nanny if she had maternity leave whilst we employed her (she didn't so we've spent it on us now ) We put in £100 per month so in theory if she had had maternity leave after a year she would have got a £1200 bonus (although remember tax is payable on bonuses as well as salary). This was all we would be able to afford bearing in mind we would have to employ another nanny to cover the maternity leave.
Our nanny already had 1 child which came with her (hence us planning in case she had a second) - and we paid her about 75% of the local rate which she was happy about. Does your nanny expect to earn less if she brings her baby with her? There have been discussions on here in the past about nannys with babies and it seemed to me that most of the nannys who replied thought that the salary should stay the same. Having employed a nanny with a baby (and interviewing another one this weekend) I would say that there are a number of definite drawbacks and that it should be reflected in the salary.
