Applying for a job after SAH for years

I'm slightly terrified! I'm applying for a job and annoyingly they don't accept CVs, only application forms. On the current/most recent job section, it asks for your salary.
So, the last job I had was 7 years ago. I worked part-time and I have a rough idea of the pro-rated salary but can't remember exactly. But it's roughly double what the salary for this job is. I can't decide whether to put it in or leave it blank. I don't want them to dismiss me because a) I'm overqualified (technically I am, but I've also been out of the workforce for a while) or b) they think I'd use it as a stepping stone maybe?
I'd be quite happy with the lower salary given the circumstances (job is in a school).
Argh, can't decide what to do. It's nearly 20 years since I applied for a job!

I'm in a similar situation but considering retraining. I'm thinking of part time/temp work to build up confidence, my cv and networking.
I think I'm just going to have to bite the bullet and send off lots of application forms.

I think something is better than a blank space in an application form.

My biggest worry is sorting through paperwork as I've moved house since leaving work to have kids.

Oh god yes, paperwork! I'm ignoring that bit for now. We've also moved house and my old boss no longer works at the old place and don't know where he is so can't put him as a reference!

I would also prefer part-time but this job is such a good match for my experience I didn't feel like I should pass it up.

I was in exactly the same position although had done some contract work for c.3 yrs after I was made redundant after DD2. If had pretty much back to back mat leaves so my actual hands off working was 5-6 yrs.
I saw a job perfect match for my skill set but woefully underpaid (and under graded). I applied and said I would do the job for the same salary for 3 days a week. They accepted, and made the job 1 or 2 grades higher.
I'm still there and now working 4 days a week and have been promoted.
Go for it!!! Grin

Hi Okite, what did you decide in the end?
I am in a similar situation so would appreciate a rough idea. Thanks

Can you not put 'market rate' or above NMW or similar?

Okite · 01/04/2017 21:25

I put my actual salary in the end. It didn't deter them, I got an interview and was offered the job! Still at half what I was on before but hey, it's a start.
