Pre Employment Checks - lost GCSE certificates

I have a pre-employment check soon and it involves a document check. I have plenty of ID etc but I've lost my GCSE certificates. We've turned the house upside down, my mum has searched her house etc, no luck.

Because my school used three different exam boards, right now I can't afford the £120 the exam boards want to replace them :( are they going to withdraw my job offer?

I have my A Level and degree certificates, will they be adequate proof or will they want to see the GCSE certificates too? I am so excited for this job and worried that I don't stand a chance now :(

Please don't worry. If you have all your other certificates as in order to get into university there must have checked your GCSE results. I have lost some of mine but no one has asked to see them since I left university. In fact no one has ever asked to see any certificates after that. Things get lost

Depending on when you left school, they may be able to scan in a picture of your statement of entry (the piece of paper you open on results day), signed and stamped, which you could email to your new employer.

This is what I did 2 years ago in the same boat, 9 years after finishing my GCSes; oddly enough my A-Levels and degree certificate was not considered proof that I had passed them

Sorry, for clarification, I emailed my secondary school to ask for the statement of entry. I had the signed and scanned version emailed back within 48 hours.

Ooh that's a good idea tiny, I'll call/email my old school tomorrow. My GCSEs were six years ago ( ) so fingers crossed they'll be able to send something over! Thanks!

I'm going to order replacements as you never know when they'll come in handy but I just don't have £120 spare at the moment :(

I've never been asked for my GCSE certificates - do they definitely need them? More usual is degree. I didn't pick up my GCSE (or A level) certificates so any qualifications I do have must just be floating around in the atmosphere.

Have they specifically asked for gcse certificates? If not I'd just leave it and if they do ask for them then look at sorting replacements then. FWIW the only thing I've ever had to show my gcse certificates for was my pgce interview.

If it's a job in a school (is the term pre-employment checks widespread?) you will need to prove you've at least got maths and English, probably science

I work in the NHS. The only certificates I've had to show were my degree and state registration, not my GCSEs or A levels. But I'm a registered healthcare professional.

Is the job you're got a registered or unregistered post, e.g. Healthcare assistant?

If it's an unregistered post then I can imagine why you've been asked for your GCSE certificates, if registered then I wouldn't worry

They should only need evidence of your highest qualification, just ring and ask. I'm sure it will be fine!

I work in local government and had to show my 32 year old o level certificates last year, plus a level, degree(s), post grad, professional qualifications, cpd records and memberships .

Hopefully my situation was unusual and you will be fine but it can happen.

I've always worked in schools, and never shown GCSE or A level certificates.

It's unregistered. I'll give my school a ring tomorrow and as soon as I know the date for the pre-employment check, I'll call and make sure they're happy with the certificates I have/a letter from my school etc :)

I'm extra nervous because we need to move three hours away for the job so there's a lot riding on it
