Anyone know about Redundancy laws???

My husband has been told today that he will no longer have a job as of 18th March. Obviosuly we are now worried and need some questions answered but all places who can help are shut. Can anyone help us??????

No he is not a member of a union. Have been on the acas website but they dont have the answers to the questions we need. Was hoping there would be someone here from somewhere that would know

how long has he been in the job? what notice period is he on?

Hi, he has been there 6 years so we know he has to get 6 weeks notice and 6 weeks redundancy, however, the company are relocating and he is not going, how does this go with regards to redundancy. Technically they have also only give him 20 days notice what happens there too given he is meant to have 6 weeks????

is he the only one being made redundant? There are rules about consulting over reduncancies if a specific number of people are involved. I guess he'll just get the money in lieu of notice + the redudancy (which is capped BTW).

Hi no he is not the only one being made redundant., There are lots of them who do not want to or cannot relocate. This is our problem, is he still entitled to redundancy if he choses not to relocat. My new years resolution this year was not to worry about things until they had happened as I am a terrible stress head. How do I deal with this.

All depends on the company policy with regard to payment. They may do the statutory which is based on age/length of service and a capped weekly amount or they may have their own payment terms, possibly enhanced weeks/pay.

He is entitled to 6 weeks notice, they could say that they have given him 3 weeks and pay the remaining 3 or just pay 6 weeks at the final payment, again depends on any policy they have.

What other specific queries do you have.
