NHS and Parental Leave

Just wondering are there any NHS staff around? Does anyone know if it's possible to take your parental leave entitlement 1 day per week instead of blocks? My trust's policy is minimum of 1 week blocks and I was wondering is there any movement in that or has anyone been successful in challenging that? Thanks.

I think that's the law rather than an NHS rule.

By definition parental leave must be taken as week long blocks as described here.

One week blocks (unless you have a disabled child).

Oh thank you I wasn't aware of that. I'm in NI and have some friends that work in ROI that can take 1 day per week so just assumed it was trust policy. That's that then thanks again Flowers

If you have a disabled child you can take it in days rather than weeks, but you have to be claiming DLA as proof of disability.
