How do you cope with the quiet times?

I am a freelancer working from home, and have had very little work since Xmas.

This is unusual (and linked to general conditions in my industry). I am used to working most days from about 9.30 to 5 and am really bad at being idle.

So far I have decluttered my office, done over a year's worth of filing, re-jigged my accounts and finances. But still getting bored and haven't got enough to do to fill my days.

It's driving me nuts, how do others cope?

Sympathies, you just have to invest in marketing, even if that just means going for lunch with similarly underemployed colleagues.
It all pays dividends later.

Yeah, all my work is referrals by word of mouth. I need to get out and about more, have made a plan to do that now.

great, it's a process I'm going through myself and it doesn't happen overnight.

Happy to exchange the odd mutual-accountability post if you fancy.

Thanks lingle.

One thing I have been procrastinating on for weeks is updating my website with recent projects. I am going to get this done next week.

Now I've written it here, I have to do it!

ok I'll put this on "I'm watching"

as in "I'm watching you!"
