What would you rather do?

What would you rather do? Work less days in a job you hate or more in a job you'll enjoy? I'm dreading going back to work but would be able to work longer shifts on an 18 hour contract with additional enhancements so it would work out an OK wage. I would only need to work 2 days a week and can pick up as much overtime as I wanted to (if any) but here's the thing, I hate the job! Or I'm tempted to apply for a job in a school which wouldn't really pay that great and would mean working 5 days a week but would obviously have school holidays off.
Thoughts please?

Always go for a job you love over a job you hate if it's affordable and practical, IMO.

I'd apply for the school job, but there's no decision to be made unless you actually get it, is there? You might go for an interview and realize it isn't for you, or get turned down.

More hours in a job you love.

No guarantee that you will get the school job so stick with job one. The beauty of only working a couple of days a week means you can go for interivews for other jobs!

Thank you for your replies. I'm currently volunteering in a school (whilst on maternity leave, must be mad!) and I'm qualified and experienced enough so hoping that leads somewhere. I suppose I will have to return to my job and work my notice anyway so that will probably make my mind up. Thank!

If generally say to go with the job you live, but I'd be careful with the school job as cuts are being made left, right and centre due to funding restrictions in schools at the moment. Getting rid of support staff is all our head can talk about at the moment. Confused

Thank you for your replies. Support staff in a lot of professions are always at risk of being cut first, it's such a shame! A lot of the jobs I see are part time or unsociable hours for not great money
