is not having sick pay illegal?

hi everyone, is sick pay a legal requirement? i have a permanant part time role with a very small 3 person company, ive been there 9 months and checked my contract yesterday as i was feeling really ill and it says no sick pay?

No it's not a legal requirement to pay occupational sick pay. You maybe entitled to statutory sick pay if you earn enough to qualify (lots of part time, low earning people don't) but that doesn't get paid for the first few days.

I've worked part time in 2 companies where if you are contracted to work less than 16 hours a week you get nothing.
