referees rant

Fillyjonk · 12/02/2007 17:23

can't fkn find any of my potential 2nd referees on the internet

have 1st one, and know I'll get a good referance but

most people who have managed me seem to have disapeared into the blether.

ALL the management team from my last job left around the same time as me and my job before that was 5 years ago, ditto no one left there.

it'll have to be my OU tutor or something, ffs. ffs! I have worked all my adult life and can only get one person to say nice things about me!

ffs!

I'm dreading it for when I start jobhunting as well. In both my last two schools, the head and my old HoD/line manager have left. Who's going to say the required nice things? It's a worry...

Fillyjonk · 12/02/2007 17:31

it really IS, isn't it

I've taken nearly 2 years out. Thats all. Yet everyone has moved on, had babies, left the country

I am not a weirdo, except a bit . But ffs, what are you meant to do?

i'll be in the same boat, i've been a sahm for 2 years and before that at the same company for 7 years, so i'll get a good reference there but before that i was only 17 so don't think it will count, lol.

Pressumably 1 is better than 0 or does it have to be 2 proffesional references.....looks like i'm at home forever then, lol

I am using my OU tutor as a referees

bllx to it

I have always had charity jobs ie jobs with astronomical management turnover

I saw a few job apps where they required BOTH referees to be a current employer.

Um, most people look for jobs and don't tell their current employer until AFTER they've at least gotten an interview for a new one.

What if you were self-employed?

A SAHP?

Fillyjonk · 13/02/2007 09:36

omg

the referees thing...I dunno, it is a problem really, isn't it?

its designed for people who do school-uni-work=> grave type thing.

even sodding voluntary work needs references, usually.

I feel like writing to some of these folks and asking, 'Do you pay people whose judgement you trust so little to do your hiring?' Or 'Are you for real?'
