Interview presentation!

So....I have an interview on Monday (mix of yay and uh-oh). It's quite a good job with lots of responsibility so obvs I need to be prepared. The invite says

"candidates will be required to complete a piece of work related to the job description (documents to be given to the candidate on arrival for interview) and verbally deliver a short 5 minute presentation to the interview panel within the time slot of the interview"

There's no clue what the presentation should be on.... do you think it's on the piece of work to be completed? I think I should probably just prepare a talk anyway....

What field of work are you in? I would expect it was about the work if your 'test' project is something creative like design but not if it's so etching like proof reading.

Good luck btw!

We sometimes just ask for a presentation and see if people think to get in touch to ask what topic we'd prefer (and if PowerPoint available etc), or if not, what they themselves choose as the most appropriate material. Typically they present about a project they led in a previous (recent-ish ideally) job that showcases that they have the skills we are after in the job description. Apart from topic, we look for a professional presentation style and good timekeeping. For us, 4'30 to 5 mins would be acceptable when asked for a 5 min presentation. Hope that helps and good luck!

Thanks! I just thought I should have contacted them regarding subject etc. I've chosen breastfeeding as it fits in with what I know and public health! Eek. Nervous now, I've known about this interview for ages, annoyed I didn't phone and ask.

I had to prepare a presentation forthe interview for my current job. I feel they were more interested in seeing if you could present than on its topic. Mine covered my professional experience, core skills, toolsets used and careerer objectives.
I couldn't use ppt or electronic media so I brought hardcopies and used a picture frame to present from. Best advice is to enjoy it and relax.
