Internal interview

I was just wondering if anyone has any tips?

Both people interviewing are well known to me as we are a really small team. Should I expect a normal, formal interview?

I'd plan for formal.

Good luck btw!

Agreed treat it like a formal external interview

CrazyDuchess · 18/10/2016 20:24

Yes and good luck!

I've had this several times and it's always formal
They introduced themselves like we didn't know each other :-(
I lost a post once because I called a piece of equipment a colloquial name that we all use instead of its formal one

Yes, I have been interviewed twice for promotion by managers that I knew really well (small team). Best piece after advice is to pretend they don't know you and tell them everything- don't think 'I don't need to say that as they know I have experience of that', tell them anyway!

Also, refer to your colleagues as 'colleagues' rather than by name (I know the first time, the manager actually commented how professional that came across).

Good luck Flowers

I've sadly fallen into this trap where you know the interviewers so well that you forget to treat it like an interview. Formal, assume they don't know anything, explain yourself clearly and fully. You'll be ok. Good luck!

I had an internal interview and she put me thru my paces and it was hard cos i had to sell myself with any fabrication at all.

Thanks everyone for the advice. It seems to be unanimous Smile

Time to get my head down and do some prep.
