Anyone else work with only men?

I am the only female at my work and I've got to say, I actually love it!
No bitching or backstabbing or moaning but it does have its challenges.
Anyone else in the same position?

Sexism isn't supported in my workplace. So people don't have the attitude that it's women who are the sole perpetrators of bitching, moaning and back stabbing.

For that, I'm eternally grateful.

Yes, men never moan in the workplace. Nor do they backstab or bitch. They're so amazing - like another species.

I do and have done since my first graduate job. It's a disturbing insight into the typical male psyche much if the time, I have to say. It's also a constant battle against sexism, both casual and overt. I wish there were more women around in why I do tbh but I don't see any coming in as there is very little encouragement or incentive.

yes and some.of the men I've worked with have been arch backstabber. Some of them also spend an inordinate amount of time bitching about and trying to discredit their new female boss. Some are lovely of course.

As a manager, I had to deal with some very nasty "bitchy" behaviour in the workplace recently. The perpetrator was a man.

My company is very integrated, my team is 6 women and 3 men, with one of those women being the boss, absolutely zero bitching, moaning or backstabbing. Why would there be, we're all pretty normal balanced people. Maybe it's just your friends who are like that?

I work only with men in one of my jobs, I love it too and it is totally different than working with woman.
They can back stab, bitch and have been known to have tantrums!
That said not with me, they do cause trouble for each other, this is when I have to step in.

I was sole woman in a team of 5 for a long time. Loved it.
I think this was down to their intelligence, humour and kindness than anything else.

I think it's less to do with sex/gender and more to do with a good culture being established. I'm sure we will find a mix of 'bitchyness/moaning/backstabbing' in any mix of an office or workplace. The main driver is what the 'team leader' or stronger more experienced members of the team support, and if these things are not allowed to develop, and challenged when they do occur then the team will be healthier.

I've worked in several jobs in a heavily female dominated industry and have never come across bitching or backstabbing, it's always been a wonderful environment to work in. In fact the only time I've had to put in a complaint about unreasonable behaviour was due to a senior male boss (and that was because he was an idiot, not because of gender). V odd post op.

I worked in one environment which was mainly men and it was a dream. I worked in another and it was pretty toxic.

It depends on the culture. Workplaces vary wildly. I am at the people who have never worked in a bitchy backstabbing environment.

I think it's also about the different labels conferred on the same behaviours. Where a man is persistent, a woman is nagging.

Very true there _ a man I'd forceful, takes no prisoners, dominant, alpha male (all said admiringly), while similar characteristics in a wine get - bitch, ball-breaker, psycho or, as Ive geard several times in current job "must be a lesbian"😡

I work in a male-dominated industry and have spent a good few years where I've been the only woman in a department of 40. If you think men don't do bitching and backstabbing or moaning , then you've been lucky with the men you work with. I'm currently on a secondment to another department, and it's all women, which is about the first time in my working life. I'm finding it much more collaborative and supportive, but it is down to personalities, not being male or female.

I find micromanaging, vindictive, "divide and conquer", uncommunicative managers tend to end up with more moany, less co-operative, less trusting teams, and they work less effectively as a result. Happens with men and women managers. It's a personalit and management style problem, not a man or woman problem.

Yes, EBearhug has the hit the nail on the head. Good managers generally develop good/happy/effective teams.
