Job application - no interview

A few years ago, as a new graduate I applied for a great sounding (very niche) job. I went to interview, but didn't get the role. I was told that they liked me, but I didn't have enough experience.

I really wanted the job, so I've spent the past few years gaining experience in the field. The job came up again last month, and I reapplied. I spent ages on the application, including getting it checked by a recruitment expert. I met all the criteria outlined in the job spec.

However, I've just been told that I haven't been given an interview this time. I don't understand!! I'm not even sure what I want from this thread, just to rant I suppose. I'm feeling really sad, angry, and a bit pointless now. I've been aiming for this job for years and it looks like it was all for nothing.

Oh, Fiona, that must be very disheartening. But.
You've done all this training, you want to work in the field so at this stage its their loss and hopefully someone else's gain.

If the interview panel felt somehow that you would not be a fit, then they will have done you a favour in the long run.

Keep going, it wasn't for nothing because with your experience you will succeed. If you can afford it, why not get your CV professionally written?
