Apologies for the naivety of this post, it's just I've had an idea and I'm not sure of the legalities/ rules of it.

I would like to start a sort of online book business. Are there rules on the resale of books from wholesalers? Do I need permission from the authors or anything? For example, I could buy 100 copies of 3 different books and sell on for a profit? Does the author need to be aware? I've never done anything like this before but I've had a good idea and don't know where to start with it.

Thanks in advance!

Why don't you contact and wholesaler or publisher and ask?

Also how are you going to compete with the likes of amazon, whsmith and waterstones?

Because I thought I'd ask mumsnet to see if anyone had any experience of it Smile

It's not simply selling books, it's a more interesting idea than that! I just don't really want to say what it is as it's quite unique and I can't really see anyone in the UK that's doing it, that's all.
