SO nervous about going back to work

I'm starting my new job in 2 weeks time, after almost 3 years as a SAHM. Until now I've just been really excited about it, because I've found being at home terribly lonely (I live abroad, in a tiny village).

Now I'm starting to get really nervous and also for dd who will be going to nursery after so long at home with me.

Need reassurance that it's all going to be ok!

Hi footprints, no real words of wisdom other than it sounds VERY normal. Lord, I'd be nervous after 3 years off (I get nervous going back after a fortnight off and you've got a DD with a change of routine too.) I do think most kids enjoy nursery - even if she cries buckets as you're leaving (they do that, then turn around like nothing's happened the moment you've gone.)
Good luck with the new job. Will you be part time or full time?

I spent both maternity leaves thinking it would actually be impossible to go back to work, but after a couple of weeks back you realise you can do it!

Thanks for the replies!

I'll be working part time - every morning and one afternoon. I know she will really enjoy it, MUCH more fun than being stuck with mummy all day long.

It's going to be wierd though!

Footprints,you'll love it.
I'm going back to work tomorrow (f/t) after 3 years away.
I'm very excited!
Have been out and got myself lots of nice new clothes to make me feel the part.
Hell,I've been working hard for nothing for ages and now I'm going to work hard and get paid for it.

No brainer!

Good luck.
