what happens with tax credits an housing benefit?

Hi,
we are a family of 5, DH works FT and we receive tax credits and housing benefit, I'm due to start a job next week doing 22.5 hours, however I was told today that I wouldn't make the end of Sept pay and the cut off date was this week so wouldn't receive my first wages till end of October!!! does anyone know if out benefits will stop straight away or carry on till my first wages?? thank you

Hi i think that they do benefits run on for 1 month after giving up benefits but please ring dhss to check or jobcentre
