Job I was interviewed for re-advertised

I had a first interview that went very well. I had positive feedback within hours telling me they were very impressed and offering me a second interview.

Had the second interview. this is now 3 weeks ago. Agent said boss was away until this week.

The recruitment agent has been very very on the ball. Keeping me updated.

The recruiter when he contacts me, calls my mobile and landline, emails and texts me. So he covers all bases. Now, utter radio silence. He would surely have told me if a no.

So they haven't formally turned me down after the senior partner's feedback was they were impressed with me.

Now the job has been readvertised on the company website.

Am I still a back burner option if they don't find anyone else?

I would carry on job hunting, I have had this a lot this year when returning to work after a long career break. I would phone the company directly about the readvertisement and ask them directly about your status. But be prepared it is still not likely to be good news no matter what excuse they give you,

To be honest, if they've readvertised, with all the expense and delay of a second recruitment round, they don't want you. If they don't get any more interest there's some chance, but I'd think carefully about taking a job where I was so clearly not what they wanted even if they did offer eventually. Sorry.

Yeah I'd imagine the best case here is that they'll take you if there's no one better but aren't overly confident that you're the right person so are readvertising.

Or it could be that you'll get turned down nicely soon, and whilst the decision has been made, nobody wants to be the one to pass it on to the recruiter.

Or they could be the type of company that doesn't pass on "no"s to the recruiter, and just presumes that after a period of time you'll both work it out on your own.

I got very impressive feedback barely 2 hours after my first interview arranging a second.

also I found the old job add, that I applied for.
It looks different and a different description to the one now posted.
Maybe it is a different role

Assume it is a no and keep looking.

Companies mess people about all the time (have seen it from employer's side of fence). It just gives me the rage to be honest but there is nothing you can do.

Do you want to work for a company who keeps you dangling/can't give you a decision within a reasonable timeframe? Sounds like you are better off without them.

We wouldn't take a role down unless it was filled or budget was pulled. If it's a different jd then it's possible it's not your role.

Sometimes it can take a few weeks before we get approval to make an offer (after getting approval to start recruiting)

It's not over until they say no! But l would always keep looking as a better job may be around the corner Smile

Ive been for jobs in the nhs and even after interview they don't even contact you. Yes comes quickly. No might never appear. Rubbish isn't it!

Silence is your answer and the recruitment agency will not do anything to jeopardise their relationship with them.

yeah. I have another interview for a much better job now this week. I applied direct.

I had a great interview they fm said they were interested the recruiter then ignored me. Finally chased him down and it was a no. Wish he'd just bloody told me straight away. Mind you I waited 6 weeks for a 3nd interview once so maybe not all bad.

Smaller companies sometimes rethink exactly what role they want during the recruitment process. It's very unfair but I've been in 2 companies where they just couldn't make their mind up about exactly what the role should comprise so they interviewed hoping the right person would pop up, not knowing who the right person would be.
I kind of agree with PPs who said call them directly.
Ime there is a lot of unfair behaviour in recruitment at the moment. My DP has had this happen (not being contacted, through agency) 3 times in about a year. It's awful.

I dont like agencies. I think they are rubbish.

I am sick and I am tired of the ones especially that ask you to meet with them. You take time out of your day and then they dont ever contact you again.

If it is a large company, they may have several similar roles available.
