Best days to work part time?

Am about to start a new part time job. I have to work Mondays, and hope to work Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. All dependent on childcare, tho, and I may therefore need to work Monday, Tuesday and Friday, or Monday, Thursday and Friday. Has anyone worked these days? How did it go?

I worked Mon, Tue, Wed and absolutely loved it - was all cleared up and ready to go for the w/e. Now back in f/t and really miss it. I did spend quite a lot of thur and fri cleaning tho, and was quikte arsey when dp went to the pub on fri nights. Loved it in the summer thouhj - long w/es in the pub

I do Mon/Tues and like it - if you can get a monday do as you'll get all the bank hols extra to your ordinary annual leave

I doMon/Thurs/Fri I prefered having 2 days off separatly but have to work round my job shares Uni days.I used to do Tues/Thurs/Fri and liked that but missed the B/H

I generally do Mon, Wed and Thurs - I like it because I get a long weekend and don't have to doa 3 day block. The bonus is by taking one day off work (Monday) I get almost a week without going in

Hadn't even thought about all those bank holidays - good thinking! But really good to hear that almost any combo has advantages, as I'm not sure whether I'll get to take my pick.

I do Mon, Tues and Fri. So 2 lots of 2 days off, and Friday is such an easy day to work because every one is winding down!

I do Tues, Thurs and Fri and I love it - having every Monday off is enough to make the rest of the week a treat. I think alot of firms pro rata th BHs now for part-timers so you don't gain or lose.

I do one day (mon) and four mornings and I do often wish that I just did 3 full days but unfortunately the nature of my job didn't allow it. The monday thing is defo a good one re the bank hols as its not law that a company has to give you a share of bank hols if you don't do a monday. Plus the earlier your days are in the week, the earlier you get them over and done with!!

I used to do Mon, Thu and Fri, which was fine at the time, but now I do Mon, Tue and Wed, which is much better. The four days off in a row is great. But on the other hand, three days in a row of getting the kids prepared the night before, getting up at the crack of dawn, and not really getting anything done in the house is quite tricky. Things - washing etc - seem to pile up more when you work all your days in a row.

It depends what the policy is re Bank Holidays. I work Monday, Tuesday and Friday, and tbh wish I didn't do a Monday, as this is when most of the BH's fall. We don't automatically have them off and be paid for them. We have a pro-rated amount of Bank Holidays (if a part timer) and each time a BH comes along I have to take those hours out of the holiday pot to cover it iyswim. In many cases, I go over my entitlement as so many BH's are as I said on Mondays. Boo hiss!

After the weekend, I always found Mondays really hard to be at home with the kids. Have switched to a Tuesday now - so we can all have a breather after the weekend.
