Getting promoted - how?

I am getting rather dispirited after yet another unsuccessful interview.
I work in the nhs, band five but I am finding the work dull and really ready for a new challenge. It's the challenge that's important to me, not the money.
However I never seem to be considered worthy of promotion.
Ive done courses, shadowed people, been a link role, set up projects off my own back, that have been recognised within the organisation. I know I do the job ok,

I've tried to move into every area I can think of, education, research, management, clinical specialist. However even having the qualifications doesn't help. I see people getting promoted with not the desired qualification and no experience. I've asked for coaching at interviews as it seems to go on those questions for which I don't seem to give the magic answers.

I feel very frustrated right now. I just wonder whether I just don't fit, and should try another type of job. Any suggestions?

I feel your pain

I'm having to change company to get anywhere, I do all those things, and go for internal positions, but get nowhere.

I feel like my employer isn't interested in developing me. I feel like just a pair of hands.

There seems little point of working in my job in the nhs, as I feel I am in such a dead end.

Have you ever had any useful interview feedback?

I'm not sure it was that useful. The last two interviews were with the same person, one I spoke too much and "took over" the other I didn't give enough information. I've been told I'm too confident, but also I don't give full enough answers and spoke too quickly. I used examples outside of my workplace to answer scenarios ( another workplace) which was outside the nhs so didn't count.

I had to do a presentation on any topic I chose, but they didn't like topic as they said it was too basic. But I was given no guidance on what level / type of presentation I needed. ( I asked) I feel really unwanted where I am as when I was offered the job it was offered with I've been told I've to offer you this ( it wasn't the job I went for ) but my old job was going.
