3 month notice period - what date is my last day at work??

I am planning to hand my notice in tomorrow (Monday 22nd August) and I'm trying to write the letter to inform the manager. As I have to give 3 months notice according to my contract, do I literally count 3 months on so would my last day be 22nd November??

Is that not 3 months and 1 day? So your last day is 21st Nov? Which is a Monday and an odd last day. You could take some leave in the notice period so you leave earlier.

Whatever the contract says, the company don't have to enforce the notice period. Many do of course.

Thanks Stouensbay. Mmmm yes I wasn't sure re the date but 21st sounds better!! Yes it is an odd date to leave on. I will write the letter and discuss with manager tomorrow. Not holding out much hope of being released any earlier but will see!! Thanks for your reply.
