Civil service pay date

I'm starting a job in the civil service next week. Just wondering if pay is at the end of this month or will they pay everything in September and just need to wait ?

Pay is the last working day of the month and there is a cut off date (around the 8th) for the processing of pay related changes so it's likely you'll have to wait until next month. Worth checking though and good luck with the new job.

Might depend on which department you're joining. In mine we get paid last working day but the payroll run isn't until roughly the 24th of the month so you could get pay at end of August.

My dept payroll cut off is also around 8th of the month, so it may depend on whether they were organised enough to get you on payroll for this month!

It's the Ministry of Justice if that helps. Tried to have a look for payroll cut offs but nothing to be found. Hopefully won't need to wait until the end of September

Welcome and congrats! Our (not Justice) cut off is 15th so you might be in with a chance of an August pay. I remember starting later in the month but I don't remember waiting 6 weeks for pay - id remember that I'm sure.

I am fairly sure they will arrange a pay advance even if you aren't on the official pay roll in time. So you won't have to wait over a month to be paid. Just ring them up and ask - totally normal question to ask and I wouldn't mind at all if a new employee asked me that.

Hi, I work in MOJ and the cut off is the 8th. So you may get a reduced pay packet this month and your full pay next month.

Ours is 15th - pay 1/2 advance and half in arrears.
