Settlement agreement and benefits

I have signed a settlement agreement to leave my job (following years of bullying from my boss). The amount I am to be paid is reasonable but I won't be able to live on it for long (I am a single mum with a baby to support).

Does anyone know if I can claim any benefits such as JSA, housing benefit, council tax support? If so, should I tell them about the settlement agreement and the amount received (their is a clause in the agreement to say I can disclose the details in order to receive benefits)?.

Many thanks,

You could probably claim Income Support as your child is under 5 and that may be a gateway to other benefits. They may take the capital into account until it falls below the threshold.
