can anyone advise me on SSP?

I was off work sick last week, I normally work 20 hrs over 4 days. I was off work a total of one week, 3 non working days and 4 working days. I was paid £22 for the week, I was told this is my SSP amount I am due eg. SSP is £88 for the week, I work 4 days so that is £22 per day and I dont get paid the first 3 days so I only got one day pay, eg. £22

is this correct?

Seems correct, SSP isn't payable for the first three days of sickness.

but accorking to the gov website SSP cant be less tha £88 a week?

this is why I'm confused!

The first three days are not payable I'm afraid. They are called waiting days.

If you take next week off work you will get a full weeks SSP

I was off from wed last week and I came back on wed this week, the week went like this for me
(I became ill on the tue, I phoned in sick on the wed)
wed, non working day
thurs, working day
fri, working day
sat, working day
sun, working day (this was the end of the working week its mon to sunday for wages purpose)
mon, working day
tue, non working day

This link from the gov.uk website says you don't get paid for the first three days (unless you've been off and qualified in the last 8 weeks).

The first page on the site is misleading as it says it's not allowed to be less than £88.45 per week but what they should say is its £88.45 per week after the first three days

If you weren't due to work Wednesday that wouldn't be counted as day one, the first day of missed work is day one (unless I've misunderstood what you have said) and how the working week is divided doesn't make any difference the seven days are the seven days you are away from work.

Certainly that was how it worked when I was doing SSP for employees, it might be different now but I can't find anything to say it has changed.

I also thought you had to average £112 a week to qualify for SSP. I'm not sure you are entitled to anything. Just proves people can't afford to go sick

This is true Penfold, you must earn £112 before tax per week to be eligible for SSP, and it is payable from 4th day of sickness.

Yes it is correct

Thursday, Friday and Saturday were the waiting days. You were paid for Sunday, and should get paid for Monday as well, this week.
