What looks best/worse?

I am struggling to land a job, I haven't had this problem before. I have just relocated to a new area.

I am qualified in A, B and C and have been doing a job that A was a specific qual for but the job also used B&C's knowledge (highly unusual to have all three and a massive advantage, in the past).

I came 'a very close second' again today - I am really disappointed!

My role is quite specialised, senior and a very responsible one. I have had a few interviews since moving and have come 'a close second' blah, blah, in all of them.

There aren't any more jobs around right now doing A. Whilst I am qualified in B and C I haven't worked in C's exclusive field for more than ten years when I held a senior role. I haven't done a job that uses B exclusively so not in a good place to compete for decent jobs in that area as I have used it in conjunction with A since gaining the qualification.

God this is long.

I want a job, a senior A job which doesnt come up that often, but if I go down the B or C route I will not be senior/have overall responsibility for many many things and the role will be relatively junior, comparatively.

How do you think it would look on my CV if, as someone who wants to be a senior A takes a junior B or mid range C job?

Will it look worse than registering as a locum A, hoping for some work from that and doing an A related course? I think it will but am not sure and am losing the plot sight of reality.

Must add that two of the roles I interviewed for were senior middle B jobs and I didn't get them but wasn't sure I expected to and was slightly surprised that I got an interview. Suspect that invite to interview was based on the whole picture, the B qual being part of that rather than any wonderful B related achievement.

I'd stick with A if that's a possibility. I think it'd be harder to switch back to a senior A role after taking a lesser role elsewhere. It could become a big step backwards.

I'd stick with A too. It might not even be that easy to get B or C type jobs - I once applied for a more junior job as I was desperate and had a call from the recruiter saying why on earth are you applying for this? You're over qualified.

Thanks for replying Anchor, I think I think the same, that locum work and some sort of A related learning even if it is just CPD overload will look better.

I would hate it as well, making the tea at B would be very demoralising.

Thanks too Beautiful, DH/DF have suggested that I try for B & C (for the income) but I think it short sighted.
