Do you intentionally avoid talking about dc's at work?

I don't want to appear 'boring' at work and so never talk about ds - to the relief of my co-workers I'm sure (most of whom don't have any children)
I also don't put up any pics on my desk either or have a screensaver of ds etc.
Just wondering if anyone else does this?

Hvae picture of her on my desk and another on my key ring, and quitefreely witter on about her all day, even bring her in to work after school so I can show her off as I carry on boring people to death about her, and her drawings are on my wall, and a picture of her as my screensaver and she is onmy diary cover !

twinsetandpearls · 14/01/2007 23:02

lol

I just think I am there, working bloody hard in crap conditions getting very stressed and often for very long hours, and the fact that I ahve such a demanding job means that there is little else to my life other than dd so if I want to drone on about her i will.

The environment I work in is very anti-kids.
People commented and bitched about a woman who had dared to go on her 2nd maternity leave within 2 years.

I was wondering if anyone else worked in that kind of environment and HAD to intentionally not talk about kids. Sorry, didn't make that quite clear.

no, am a tecaher so being anti kids doesn't go down well. Would hateto work in an environment like the one you describe.

I always made a point of mentioning them as I was young with small children in areas where that was rare so I wanted people to know but only in passing. Never all that gushing about how marvellous they are that some parents do. I don't hide I have them but I don't go on about them. Many clients have children so it helps make common ground with suppliers and customers often to mention children, it's a connection, a tool to drive business and get orders as it were.

I only talk about them to people who have children if we're on the subject or to people who ask. And I ask about theirs too. No photo on my desk either.
