change to working hours

thank you for reading my post. i have started working flexibly (3 full days per week) for a 6 month trial period (i was working full time). i am now two months away from the end of the trial period and due to some changes in my circumstances i want to go back to full time. i have a meeting in two months to discuss the trial period. i think i am able to go back to my original working pattern if i wont, is this right? ??
also, a new employee was employed for the other 2 days per week to cover, i think on a fixed term contract, and if i go back to full time i think this employee's contract will not be renewed, should this affect my decision???

We do this at our office if you move from full to part time, it's for a trial period and if it's not working for either you or the business then you revert to your original working hours.

It shouldn't affect your decision in terms of the other persons contract, if it was fixed term anyway and they have agreed to that then they know there is an end date to their work.

Check the letter you have confirming the details and terms of the trial period. Presumably you asked for a permanent change and it was your employer who wanted it to be a trial only?

oh my gosh, apologies for the spelling error and bad presentation, writing on my phone!!

the letter says that this is a temporary change and will be made permanent on agreement following the trial period. i guess this means i can return if i want, unless work were to say that they wanted it to continue as pt permanently? as they have new people in place they might say this.

am i being unreasonable to want to go back to full time after a trial? will work be miffed about this?

I think it's fine but you should let them know what you want to do as soon as possible rather than waiting until the end of the trial. I had a three month trial period when I went part time and was asked to raise any concerns I had asap.

Well if they've gone to a certain amount of trouble and expense making arrangements to accommodate your request (as it sounds like they have) then yes of course there's a possibility they might be miffed. But that doesn't mean you are unreasonable to ask the question if your circumstances have changed.
