Any DWP job coaches out there? What was your interview like?

I haven't done a formal interview for almost 20 years, been lucky to walk into most of my jobs via people I know. Do I need to memorise the competency thing? Confused

I mean work coach not job coach, obviously. I feel under-qualified already!

Hi Toadflax, I had a civil service interview recently though not for DWP. Basically you need to have some STAR answers prepared for the competencies they assess you in. I found some sample questions on line and thought of 4/5 stories that I could use to fit what they asked.

Don't do what I did and forget to prepare an answer for Why do you want this job? Also they asked a few general questions about the department, main challenges facing it over next few years etc, which I didn't feel I'd prepared enough for.

I didn't get it but it was good practice to have such an in-depth interview.

Hi Stokey, thank you. I think I am thinking about it in terms of it being good practise no matter what happens. Good to know there are sample questions, I shall look them up. I have almost a week to prepare.
