Hi there

I work part time and looking to start Ironing and cleaning but not sure where to start and what to charge.
Does anyone else do this?

Any ideas appreciated.

Thanks

You could target an area near you and put flyers though the doors. You could also put an add on gumtree.I would emphasize reliability, trustworthiness and if at all possible offer a no smoking policy for the ironing. We used two agencies where the shirts came back stinking of stale cigarette smoke.

Rates vary enormously around the country but where I live a cleaner not through an agency would be about £6.00 an hour and ironing about £12.00 - £15.00 per bag. I would suggest having a look in local newsagents to see if they have any adds up as this will give you an idea of local costs.

If it is anything like our area you should be well in demand and will probably build up clients quickly through word of mouth.

Have a look around for other people doing it in your area and phone up and ask there prices and services if you need too. Adverts can be found in shop and post office windows normally. Compare those take away ironing as well as those who do it in the clients house along with other cleaning.

Do loads of research inc insurance etc.

I would tend to charge differently for shirts as a kilo of t shirts is easier than a kilo of mens shirts! Just check out other ironing company prices.
