Do you work in maternity care?

Hello, I am considering a complete career change. I have worked up the ranks of my office based industry over the last ten years, but I miss working with the public, hate office politics and would like to try a new path.
I'm very tempted by the idea of working with pregnant women/new mums. I have looked into becoming an nct or daisy birthing teacher, and even read up on midwifery training, but since I have no experience I'm not ready to commit to the training for that level of role.
I'm sure there must be all sorts of roles involved in maternity care that I just don't know about, could anyone recommend any entry level type jobs that might help me get some hands on work experience whilst also getting paid? (Unfortunately I don't have capacity to volunteer at the moment as I will have to pay for my son to go to nursery while I work)

Not really!

HCA work on maternity is competitive.
BF support needs training and experience.
Any sort of hypno/lazy Daisy etc you need to do the associated training course and then you are working as a franchise so it is pretty hard work.
Doula- training, self employed.

I think you need to have a good think about what it is that attracts you to working with women. What do you think you want to support them to do? What do you think you can offer them?

If you BF your son though you could see if your trust is training peer supporters as you should be able to do that with your son coming along with you.

You may not be able to find anything until your little boy is in school (vacancies like these are as rare as hens teeth!). How long have you got to wait? Me and many of my friends are in the same position, as childcare positions rarely pay for childcare
