Hi I'm currently self employed only earn about 30 pounds per week. As this isn't a lot I don't have to pay national insurance I have learned that if you don't pay national insurance class 2 you are not entitled to the higher maternity allowance... Any one know anything about this?? Thanks

I think you have to pay class 2 for 20 something weeks (29 top of my head) that entitles you to roughly £138pw

Yes you have to have been earning at least £30 per week & paying Class 2 NI for at least 13 weeks of the 66 weeks before the baby is due to be eligible for Maternity Allowance.
