Internal Interview

I applied for a role in another department on Saturday, closing date was this Sunday. Email received on Monday asking me to interview on Wednesday. I tried pushing it back to next week to give me the weekend to prepare and swot up. I wasn't expecting this to happen so quickly. I am not sure whether this is good news or whether they have to interview all internal candidates so just want to get it out of the way. Opinions welcomed!

Often internal recruitment is preferred by some employers, saves on references and induction procedures. Could be seen as good news in my eyes.

Having interviewed internal and external candidates for a role my tip would be to take the interview as seriously as you would an external one. In my limited experience internal candidates have come across as being less prepared.
