My manager was drinking alcohol at work today with another colleague she's been very drunk all day slurring etc and being very cheeky. What can I do? I'm mortified

Speak to HR and leave it to them to deal with anything.

What sort of place do you work in?

Feelverystrange209 · 21/02/2016 16:31

I work in a customer service place, even 1 of the customers was looking at her. She hid round the back most of the time but stunk of drink, she repeated something to me 13 times and didn't remember my answer. I don't want to get in trouble by reporting this?

Why would you get in trouble for reporting it?

Feelverystrange209 · 21/02/2016 19:03

It's a very 'cliquey' place and she's work there a considerable amount of time and is well respected. But today I felt like she was being very nasty I couldn't believe it when I saw her drinking!

If you report to HR you cannot bank on the witness statement you provide being annonoymous; especially if your manager challenges it. But your company should have procedures in place to protect employees from bullying and harassment.

If customers were looking at her, you must do something - and that's the angle I'd approach it from, what impression does it leave customers with? I wouldn't be returning somewhere that staff were clearly drunk on duty.
