How many week long fit notes can you have?

Just that really - how many back to back fit notes signing you off for one week can you have? Surely a more detailed assessment of fit for work or not needs to kick in at some point to give an actual realistic return to work date?

Is there a limit or can the week long notes continue indefinitely?

In theory they can continue indefinitely. After the first couple if it looked like this was going to go on longer I would give a longer one. Really depends on why they're off.

I had someone off for 4 months on a mix of 1-week and 2-week fit notes. Makes planning very difficult.

4 months! Eek. On 4th week long fit note here. Totally impossible to plan and organise resource properly.

Did you call in the occupational health resource?

I know they plead time constraints but GPS are working against small businesses here.

Off for low mood. I just need a realistic return to work date/plan so I can get temporary help in.
