Following on from my last post - I've been offered my dream job! It's an office based job but is very fast paced and in exactly the field which I want to go in to. The only problem is, I currently work in the prison service and have 5 weeks of sick leave from the past year to my name. I took 4 weeks off work whilst I was in and out of hospital due to lower abdominal pain, fever and severe vomiting. The conclusion is that I may have had a bout of severe IBS or a severe gut reaction to something. This was over 6 months ago and I have been fine ever since. I also took a week off over Christmas due to bereavement. This makes 5 weeks in total. I have never had a singular day off and have always come in unless it has been serious. It's just unfortunate that these incidents have both occurred. It is very difficult to work in a prison, on landings and dealing with prisoners whilst you are unwell and you are encouraged at the time to stay off work, as it is a dangerous environment at the best of times.
Do you think it is likely that the job could be withdrawn due to my sick leave?
