Hello does anybody do transcribing work from home?

Who do you work for?

I'm looking for something I can do from home, not catalogue delivery or selling diet brands, but something like data input, transcribing etc.

I work totally for myself. I won't line anyone's else's pocket. It's been difficult building it up but universities have proved my best source of income. Also do proofreading, copy editing, writing and researching.

Could I ask how much the going rate is for proof-reading?

happyinherts · 24/01/2016 21:37

I charge £15 per 2000 words but include copy editing in that -

Replacing vocabulary which has been regularly repeated or used out of context.
Shortening sentences / adding paragraphs to assist the reader.
Checking for consistency. Characters names are correct, etc.

Basic proofreading maybe £12 per 2000 words.

Hi,

Realise this is an old thread but wondered how you market to the universities? How do they know about you? And are you targeting staff or students? Thanks!
