My predecessor won't leave!

I started a new job (which I really like) three weeks ago. My predecessor is taking early retirement. His last day at work was supposed to be last Friday. He came in on Monday "to tie up a few loose ends". He came in AGAIN on Tuesday and yesterday. Thought we had seen the last of him then, but he turned up again this afternoon. Told me he wouldn't be in tomorrow but would be in all next week. He is supposed to be on pre-retirement annual leave.

He is interfering in my work, sending e-mails to people contradicting what I have said and is refusing to have his e-mail account deleted before his actual retirement date (sometime in January!).

I think I am going to have to have a word with my boss, aren't I?-

yep, will your boss be understanding towards how you feel? Is everyone in the office finding it hard. They guy obviously doesn't know what to do with himself now he's retired.

I think she will be understanding. I don't have a problem with him using the computer, but he shouldn't be trying to do my job.

He is single and in his 50s. He admits he doesn't know what he is going to do with his time. I am wondering why he took early retirement.
