Unsupportive line manager

I'm getting increasingly upset by the complete lack of support shown to me by my line manager.

An example today: I've been asked to attend a meeting on a non working day. I can attend, but it'd mean a 20-mile round journey for which I will not be paid. I could take TOIL but my diary is so full it could easily be January before I can.

I've asked my line manager if someone else can attend. There's someone else in the department who should be tbh as it's within their remit but my line manager won't facilitate this.

HoD is fab btw but won't want to overrule my line manager.

I'm really peed off.

Your line manager can't make you attend a work meeting if you don't work that day. Is there a HR manager you could speak to?

I'm not going to bother HR with this because it shouldn't come to it. I will, however, speak to the HoD on Monday.
