Sacked due to maternity leave?

feelingfedup · 07/12/2006 13:12

Just had a letter to say my performance has not been up to the required standard so they are not renewing my contract.

But they have judged me on something I could not rectify because i went on maternity leave, so I've effectively been sacked due to my maternity leave.

Union say I've got a good case for tribunal, but I don't want a tribunal, I want my job.

Any comments/suggestions as to what I can put in my letter to my employer?

Follow union advice

take any relevent paperwork/appraisals/supervision documentation (if u received it)that relate to performance issues or asisgned tasks. Recommend u try to demonstrate that the performance issue u were appraised on was incomplete due to mat leave rather than inability on ur part to complete

dont know if u work in public sector - if u do get HR involved

ADVICE: kick up a fuss dont go quietly

if need be c a solicitor

GOOD LUCK
