any headhunters out there?

Hello,
I've recently been contacted by a couple of headhunters re potential opportunities. First time, I was pretty blasé about it and after the entire process was over, I was actually offered the job.

I was just curious to ask any experts out there what the usual practice is? This time round it sounds quite different (the process) but then again it might be because it's an international recruiter (ie from outside of the UK) and because they are doing a worldwide hunt it might be different? I don't know...

First time round, they emailed, I responded. We had a chat. He asked for my cv. I gave it to him. He got back to me after a few days saying they were impressed and wanted to see me for interview. I went for interview. There were 3 others apparently. I got offered.

This time round, they emailed. I responded. Had a chat. Asked for cv. I sent it. Said they'll get back to me. Still haven't. It's been a week to be fair so not that long. Plus it's in a very different time zone. So I'm waiting. If for whatever reason I don't make the cut, they would let me know wouldn't they? I don't know want to be hanging around.

Both times job spec and salary scale were shared with me.

Any thoughts and advice greatly appreciated.

Head hunters vary massively on how well they manage candidates. Sounds like you had an efficient one first time, and less so this time. That's all it's down to.

Thanks hermoine for the reply! Well time2 people have been back in touch so we shall see. I did wonder whether it was a case of international searches vs national search. I had always assumed the first round one was a local search in the uk, possibly only in the se (where I am). The second one is calling from half way across the world and perhaps with the specs, is having to do a world search instead.

Thanks again. Thanks

I agree they vary massively. Most appear to be in the less-efficient side. They are also far more attentive when they think they've got a chance of earning commission from you - I have had a couple who can't even be arsed to drop a mail to say, "sorry, they won't be following up even further," and others who will give useful feedback about where you could do better on the interview.
