Last week I was told my job was being made redundant in a department restructure and as such I am now 'at risk'.
I had to interview for another role during the restructure process and was unsuccessful.
The redundancy has come as a shock because at no point during the five month process were we told we might lose our jobs. We are under the impression we'd fit into the new jobs and although we'd have to interview we'd pretty much get the roles unless we spectacularly failed.
This all changed two weeks ago when it was announced the interviews would be 'the toughest ever' which of course sent us all spiralling into panic.
I won't get any redundancy pay because I am just short of the two years requirement.
I have lodged a complaint with HR and as a consequence of the stress I'm under have been signed off sick by my GP.
I have been told 'off the record' that I may be entitled to a discretionary pay of one months wages but I'm not sure how accurate this is. Can anyone advise?
