I'm currently on maternity leave and I am receiving MA, I'm not remotely worried about my MA stopping, I understand that's a hit I'd have to take for starting a new job.
I want to take a new job whilst still on maternity leave from my existing job, the idea being that if this new job doesn't work out for us (if I'm not getting enough hours, the hours aren't fitting round my husbands job well enough or our 6 month old just isn't coping with me not being here) I can leave and still have my existing job to go back to. Is this possible? I'm pretty sure there's something about letting them know if I take a second job in my contract, Do I have to inform my current employer now or can I wait until the end of my maternity leave / when handing in my resignation? How do I make the new job my primary job for tax? Should I just stop being a wimp and quit the existing job (I'd have to pay back a couple of weeks holiday and a week pay for some sort of weird overpayment thing they did if I quit now which is why I'd like to drag it out if possible)
