Maternity Pay & Deductions

Hello! I've got 2nd LO due at end of October and I'm having problems getting my employer to give me a payment schedule for my mat leave which includes deductions. I just want to know how much I will actually see in my bank account each month. Does anybody know if I'm entitled to this information? They are being very evasive atm, and I want to know if I can legitimately push harder. Does anyone have any official sources which states this either way? I'm becoming increasingly stressed at my inability to do any solid financial planning! Angry

There's no legal entitlement for them to provide you with a schedule of payments. Tbh, it should be fairly easy to work out, as long as you know what you qualify for in terms of maternity pay.

It's hard for payroll to give you exact figures in advance due to tax and when you go on maternity leave in the financial year. E.g. I went down to SMP in the April so wasn't taxed on the amount initially, whereas if I'd earned my normal salary within that tax year I would have taken home less.

I would ask them (nicely) for a list of gross payments in advance but It's unlikely they'll be able to give you net pay figures for the entire time you're off.

Thank you! I have a lot of deductions which complicates things and I'm not great with numbers to begin with.... I've just had the gross figures so that's something. :)

What sort of deductions? Some can't be taken from SMP.
