Peck - Getting Kids into Nature

Hi All!

I wanted to share my latest idea/project with you all.

A few years ago I had the idea to create a specific wild bird feed for children with an educational element. I've always found it bizarre how, in the UK, we stigmatise feeding wild birds as a pastime for older generations yet, when given the opportunity, children love to feed wild animals.

After lots of development I ended up creating Peck Wildlife. You can see it's been completely designed to be far more approachable for children, whilst including collectable cards to teach about the UK and Irelands wild birds.

The packaging is also 100% compostable or recyclable to help teach sustainable practices at a young age.

Now, as I'm just an independent designer, I've put the project on the crowdfunding site Kickstarter. This allows anyone to place pre-orders and allows me to get the minimum quantities required to produce the first ever products. Sadly, without this funding Peck will forever remain a concept. You can see the Kickstarter page here (the video also explains the product nicely!):

I have lots of other ideas to help encourage nature interaction in our children, I'm hoping this would be just the start!

I thought Peck may make an excellent blogging topic. Whether or not a product like this could help solve some of the issues raised at the start of the video.

I really hope you like the idea and look forward to hearing your thoughts :)
