When to ask for a promotion

Two months ago I was given a promotion. It was creation of a brand new role after one very senior member of staff left. It's a hell of a lot more responsibility, but a great opportunity for me. The thing is it's so much more work (in working on my days off at home to keep up etc). My pay rise equates to an extra £60 a month, which doesn't seem fair. When's the right time to ask for a payrise?

Before you accept the offer of a promotion.

When is the normal salary review process where you work, do you have long to wait?

Workload issues are separate.
