Police Caution & job applications ...

If you have a police caution (NOT a criminal conviction) i.e. it was given for a minor offence, does it:

A. Affect future job applications / offers within the financial sector?

B. If you of course declare the caution will it stop you getting the job?

This relates the finance industry

If the job is in the financial sector a DBS check will almost certainly be required. The caution will show up for 6 years (2 years if you were under 18 at the time of the offence). However, if the offence was on this list it will appear on DBS checks for the rest of your life.

If it will show up on a DBS check failure to declare the caution will almost certainly stop you getting the job. Whether or not you will still get the job with the caution depends on the offence and the role for which you have applied.

So after 6 years do you have to declare the caution?

TIA

Provided it isn't for one of the offences on the list I linked to in my last post no, you don't have to declare it after 6 years.

Thank you
