Anybody miss the old Mumsnet jobs board

I got my job through the old board..which has turned out really great. I used to regularly check for opportunities for friends.

I can see what's good about the new board - wider job spectrum, hopefully recruiters / employers that are signed up to a better working culture.

But think the old style of jobs ads are either harder to find on the new board or perhaps not being posted because it was more expensive? and they were the kind of jobs some mums are looking for

We've advertised on the old board a few times since I got my job...but don't think we would on the new one, as we might as well advertise with Reed

Yes, I miss it too. The new one seems similar to all the other job websites and actually the old board gave companies/recruiters the opportunity to explain why they thought they were a fit with MN/working parents etc. It was also much easier to see if posts were home-based.

Me too. I have a freelance contract thanks to it and a friend works two pt roles via it.

Having said that I hope the new board can become the 'go to' pt role place. To encourage employers to offer more pt/flex roles. It probably needs to be the shiny professional version to do that.

We're a small business looking to expand, and we were looking to place a job ad here as the role we want to fill would perfectly suit a SAHM looking for a way back into work.

My wife talks about the help and advice she herself got on here, which is why I know about this at all.

The job is an IT support / marketing role working from home, part time, with school holidays off. With a view to the successful candidate becoming a partner in the business.

However we decided to wait until the official jobs area was launched, it stated before launch that it would be £50 to advertise.

Unfortunately it's actually £395 to advertise, whereas it's only £175 on Reed and £190 on Monster. So we can't justify placing an ad here unfortunately.

SR try your local "Mums" Facebook groups. I found someone for my biz that way. In fact lots of v good & experienced ppl came forward who were willing to work for a modest sum in return for flex work.

Me too, it's too big with too many jobs, lost it's niche I think as it looks just the same as most other jobs boards and has the same roles too.

MML thanks for the Facebook tip, although not overly looking for someone local to me.

I think we'll just try Reid and see what response we get, probably a load of people who think the idea of flexible part time work "sounds" good, rather than someone looking for a way back into a career.

I doubt we can put SAHM in our job advert. :)

I have a very flexible, possibly sah (or anywhere really) 18 yrs DS who is eager to get a start a and studying ICT if it's any good to you.

I found 3 freelance contracts on the old board. I'm not looking at the moment but I haven't seen anything at I would be interested in since the board changed.
The big corporates can advertise anywhere, MN was more niche
